A Choral Vigil for Peace
Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 4 p.m.
Basilica of Our Lady (Guelph)
Sit back and close your eyes as you experience the rich acoustics of the Basilica of our Lady Immaculate surrounded by a choir of over 100 voices, as GCC joins forces with Toronto’s Amadeus Choir in a stunning program of a cappella choral works.
The concert features excerpts from Rachmaninov’s transcendent All-Night Vigil (commemorating the composer’s 150th birthday on April 1, 2023), as well as works by Ukrainian-Canadian composer Larysa Kuzmenko, Latvian composer Uģis Prauliņš, and Canadian composers Kathleen Allan and Jon Washburn.
Our audience will hear the world premiere of a commissioned piece by French-Canadian/Métis composer Ian Cusson, and GCC will present the Canadian premiere of Shavon Lloyd’s Alleluia.
We are dedicating this program to all people around the world experiencing war and yearning for peace.
Adult – $40
