Commissions
GCC is committed to programming music by composers who identify as Canadians or who live in Canada, and seek to support the creation of new choral repertoire through commissions and composer competitions.
will I, night by Ian Cusson
Recent commissions include the premiere performance of Ian Cusson’s will I, night (poetry by Marilyn Dumont) in April 2023, a co-commission with Amadeus Choir of Toronto.
Ian Cusson is a composer of Metis and French Canadian descent, and his work explores Canadian Indigenous experience including the history of the Metis people, the hybridity of mixed-racial identity, and the intersection of Western and Indigenous cultures.
