The Guelph Chamber Choir’s mission is “To foster community enjoyment and appreciation of choral music by a highly skilled choir, through performances, outreach, artistic collaboration, and community partnerships”.
SingOUT is a donor-supported, multi-faceted community outreach program aimed to help us share the joy of music with those who may not otherwise hear live choral singing.
SingOUT
The Guelph Chamber Choir supports a number of initiatives intended to make choral music accessible and relevant to the community. In particular, our youth intiatives include the Patricia and Gerald Neufeld Emerging Artist program and special pricing for performances.
GCC visits retirement communities, hospitals, schools and other venues where access to live music performances is limited by economic, or other accessibility challenges.

GCC in the Community – April 29, 2023
One of the most rewarding SingOUTs that we do, is to perform for residents of Long Term Care facilities and retirement residences.
Last year we were able to perform small outside concerts, but we’re thrilled to be able to perform indoors again this year.

“My mom lives at Guelph Commons. She just told me she saw this most amazing choir.. She absolutely raved about it! Thanks so much!!”
The concert was very well received, and those who were there told other residents that they’d missed an excellent performance. The repertoire was well chosen for this audience, … On behalf of myself personally, and the residents of Guelph Lake in general, please, please come back!
High School Workshop with Waleed Abdulhamid – February 24, 2023
GCC welcomes Sudanese guest artist Waleed Abdulhamid, Director of City Choir, in an exciting workshop and performance.
Combining youth singers from local high school choral programs and members of GCC, Waleed will lead the group in the creation of a new choral work.
This project will provide:
- an opportunity to learn about North African musical traditions, instruments, melodies, rhythms, and philosophy
- teach a different style of learning than the traditional score-reading music through improvisation and aural instruction
- musicianship development for talented youth musicians
- creation and premiere of a new cross-cultural work, expanding the choral experience in Canada.

The day will also include a new work from our Emerging Composer-in-Residence, Silas Chinsen, developed in collaboration with Guelph students.
