The Language of the Stars
Chamber Orchestra
The Language of The Stars by Canadian composer Katerina Gimon, is a celebration of the beauty and majesty of our night sky — a song sung to the stars themselves. The text, excerpted from a poem of the same name by Martha Lavinia Hoffman, speaks of a longing to understand the mysteries of our vast and remarkable universe while still being tethered to the earth. This performance will feature Emerging Artist Lindsay Scott and the Guelph Youth Singers.
The concert also includes:
Psalm 42 by Felix Mendelssohn
featuring Annie Ramos, soprano
Die Himmel Erzählen, BWV 76 (Opening Chorus) by J.S. Bach
featuring soloists Rebecca McKay, Christine Cousins, Lanny Fleming, and Keith Hagerman
Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen
And the premiere of our GCC Emerging Composer Competition
